Origami Peace Crane

Handcrafted by Heejung using traditional 6”x6” Japanese Washi paper

and threaded with beads.  Each one unique

The crane is an ancient mythological symbol in Japan and Korea as well as in Native American cultures of North America.  After World War II the crane became a worldwide symbol of peace through the story of Sadako Sasaki, a 12 year old Japanese girl who developed leukemia after the US atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Before passing away she folded hundreds of origami peace cranes and has inspired generations with her message of Peace and Hope.
